VIEWS OF KHARBERD
The magic of cybercommunication has made receiving these photos of Kharberd, where my father was born, possible. A long-time friend and library colleague, Jordan Scepanski, had taken them in 1965, when he was in Turkey. We had talked about his having been there over the course of our acquaintance, but I just received the jpeg images, attached to an e-mail message today. The first is of Kharberd Castle; the second and third, are general views of the region in what was once historic Western Armenia.Who knows, perhaps during this coming year, I will go to see for myself and document the millennial places where my Armenian ancestors lived and died.
